Sound Install, Granada Hills Baptist Church, Granada Hills, CA

An unfortunate series of events and poor suggestions led this church to spend a lot of money on an installation that was inappropriate for the space. Congregants complained of sound blasted into their ears, excessive volume up front, and muddy vocals at the back — speakers were on the floor at ear level, and 6 large wedges crowded the small stage.
A complete overhaul was needed: two main QSC Acoustic Design speakers hung from the ceiling, two smaller QSC fill speakers for the side overhangs, and one subwoofer. This brought a crystal-clear soundstage with no feedback, and a digital snake with in-ear monitoring cleared the wedges off stage for a cleaner, more spacious stage. A fully digital mixing system capable of recording up to 32 channels also made sermon and worship recordings easy to publish online.
