We’re ecstatic to share this recently completed install. Elysian provided a very efficient system using just 3 speakers from Danley Sound Labs. While the name may not be as popular as the common JBLs, QSC, EVs, etc., Danley is an American brand. They produce high quality audio systems which are in use in stadiums and venues around the world.
PEAK Efficiency
Being a wide church sanctuary, line arrays were initially quoted as the solution. While a line array may technically cover the width of this space, it introduces a range of issues. To maintain directionality, each hang would require a good number of boxes. This would smear the audio, throw audio onto walls in this highly reverberant space. The hangs would require processors to correctly align and tune speakers. In contrast, the Danley system is point source. It has a 90×50 pattern emanating from the box. Very little sound is thrown back on to the stage, back walls, or side walls of the sanctuary.
Everything runs off 1 20a circuit with a 5000w amplifier powering the 3 speakers. To stay within the church’s budget, we repurposed the 2 existing Mackie powered subs. We tuned them to work with the speakers. The 3 speakers replaced 2 4 feet tall JBL boxes. Three additional smaller JBL speakers can still be seen in the video and these will eventually get taken down.

Danley 5k4C 4 channel power amplifier
p.s., audio distortion is from the phone camera. Auto settings were disabled to be able to hear the audio in the room without the camera app’s processing.
