Sound Install, Granada Hills Baptist Church, Granada Hills, CA

An unfortunate series of events and poor suggestions led to this church spending a lot of money on an installation just two years ago.  The equipment installed was inappropriate for the space and didn’t fit the sanctuary. Congregants complained of sound being blasted into their ears, excessively loud volumes for those in front, and muddy or unclear vocals and speech at the back. And rightly so.
The speakers were setup on the floor at ear level causing discomfort for a majority of the congregation. Also 6 large wedges crowded the small stage. Providing sound for all the musicians and singers through the monitors resulted in loud on stage volumes that spilled into the audience in a small church.
A complete overhaul was needed.
The new system was simple – two main QSC Acoustic Design speakers hung from the ceiling, two smaller QSC fill speakers for coverage under the overhangs on the sides, and one subwoofer.  This setup brought a crystal clear soundstage that adequately covers the space and size of the church with no feedback.  This has now resulted in congregants actually enjoying the worship services. The sound system performs well for quiet services as well as the high energy youth services.  The stage was fitted with a digital snake and in ear monitoring system that helped clear the large wedges off stage, and resulted in a much cleaner and spacious stage.

A fully digital mixing system was setup capable of recording upto 32 channels of audio. Sermon recordings and worship recordings are now a breeze to handle and publish online.
